  1. With the only fact of devastate a government led by NLP of eight years is an advantage, because it breaks with a scheme of one-party, which was characterized by a large number of unfinished proposals and corruptions. I think that corruption in a government takes more power when it has the necessary tools such as the economic interests handled by many entrepreneurs, in the which in many cases have connection with people directly from the government, as well as the years pass a government gains experience but it can be manipulated to the point of being misrepresented.

Without going into details, I hope it is going to be a good government with some extreme changes and by the personality of the President, an orderly and authoritarian government, I do not expect lot of scams, because Solis is a "pioneer" of his party so of his performance depends on the new opportunities for CAP. Also, I hope alliances with other parties to level Legislature so as to facilitate its job.

  2. Even if the tittle says he has no political carreer, he does have, his has worked in a ministrie, as an ambassador and in a chancellery, so he does have a political carrer, maybe no as long as other candidates, but de does have one. We can see that people with a lot of political experience who have become Presidents of Costa Rica haven´t done much for the country, so it doesn´t matter how much political career a person has, but the will to do things right. And it looks like Luis Guillermo Solís wants to do things right and beneficial for Costa Rica.
I hope he remain uncorrupted trough his period and beyond, and that always will do things transparently. He has begun with a very good idea of fixing the bridges that have an alert since his first day in government, I hope this is signal that his government will be very efficient.

  4. The election of Luis Guillermpo Solís as president has many positive aspects, in first place is a lesson for Costa Rican politics because shows that ticos are tired of common politics and corruption. So, Luis Guillermo and PAC give hope to ticos and in campaign show to us a positive side of politics and because of that renew in the population the idea that Costa Rica could be a better place.
For me this change and the government plan of Luis Guillermo bring a lot of good projects and progress to our country and the most important part is that I think he is honest and non-corrupted and in this first days of Luis Guillermo´s government he does good thinks like trimming bushes to allow greater visibility and signed a decree to road infrastructure.

  6. When a small group of people hold the power for a very long time, It leads irremediably to the corruption and the abuse of power. So, I think it was time already to have a new group of people ruling our country.

What are my spectations for this new government? I dont think he will be the country's savior, I don't think he will end with the corruption (because corruption is deep inside our society), I don't think he will fix our streets or transform our country into a power area because I dont believe in utopias. I just hope that this government will be the first in a long time to really care about the problems of the people.

  7. The election of Luis Guillermo as a president is really important to the country because it gives a chance to another party to rule the country. It's algo important because it shows how strong is the democracy in our country. My expectations of his government are not clear, I really hope we can manage a succesfull period but I think that the situation of the country is bad and it won't be easy to solve in four years. There will be maybe a couple of years that will be really difficult, after that things will be easier to the goverment.
Beside the polithical aspect, Luis Guillermo seems as a really humble and working person who really wants to give the government a new and cleaner face.

  8. This new government has gave to our country the hope because the new president Luis Guillermo seems to be an honest person, and with a completely transparent government, with the idea that nothing would be hidden to us, and that decisions go by hand with the need for people. But just with time we can realize if this is true, also it is known that it will not be an easy task because Laura´s government did not do a good job, because she left much work to do.
The expectation for this new government would be : Honesty , less corruption, generate more employ, better education, equal rights to everyone.

  9. "The no political career" is in no way a limitation to the new goverment. It does seem favorable that Luis Guillermo has the nearly complete support of the entire country and the sense that the change will bring good things; such head-starts may actually assure a honest, solid and efficient government. If he doesn't succumb to corruption (He doesn't seem to). As to what to expect from the government:
    1) Support from the people until 3 or more mistakes are made
    2) Efficienty
    3) An initial lack of corruption which may or may not continue until the end

  10. It's true that Costa Rica needs lots of changes and that's what everybody is looking for and that's exactly what Luis Guillermo's new government is offering, people (I included) have huge spectations for this new government, a more organized and clear government something that in certain way is a type of "revolution", hopefully we'll see real changes in the next four years.

  11. I think this elections benefited the country by increasing the support for other political parties, other than PLN and PUSC which have been the dominant parties in the country, which to me points out to a change in the future. I expect this government to be very different form the past one, where our president doesn't ignore the problems in the country and proposes solutions.

  12. In my personal opinion, I do not have great expectations for this government. I'm really happy that we as a country finally made a change, but the situation of the country is really difficult. In the past government, Laura Chinchilla found an awful situation and tried her best (or at least that's what I want to believe). Luis Guillermo is receiving a broke country with a broke system and he'll have a rude situation to deal with. I hope he'll make the right decisions that will benefit the country.

  13. It's beneficial to the country to have a change in the government but at the same time it's difficult to have a real change in it if only the higher ranks change and no also the middle ones. If they don't collaborate to change the country this can't go anywhere, no matter how many new energy brings the change if no everybody accepts it. It is reflected in the recent conflicts that they are facing this days with the teachers.
At the same time that the new president is an academic that his speech is to talk to every sector and ask their help gives hopes of a better government it all depends how the other parties and sectors let him govern.

  14. I think we was needing a change in the governament, our country always had the same politicians and the same problems, but also is important to understand a only men can´t change the situation of the country in four years, but at least is a begining...
